Bone Marrow (stem cell) transplantation from either a donor or from the pet’s own bone marrow, is a treatment option for canine B-cell lymphoma. For a donor to be used, a match must be found from a known family member.
Bone marrow transplantation has a higher success rate at complete remission than any other treatment and in some cases, it may result in a cure. The transplant is a long and involved treatment with extensive aftercare and long term follow up. Patients are picked based on owners’ understanding of the procedure and their ability to provide the kind of long term care that the patients will need following the transplant.
